This presents a few problems:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Will people with <a href=\"https:\/\/ghr.nlm.nih.gov\/glossary=germlinemosaicism\" target=\"_blank\">gonadal mosaicism<\/a> have to report to the supervisor at the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles to ask which potty to use?<\/li>\n<li>What happens to desperate women at crowded Tar Heels\u00a0games? (Admit it, you&#8217;ve thought about it, even if you haven&#8217;t done it.)<\/li>\n<li>What about Dads whose daughters really need to go pee-pee while they are waiting in line at the Department of Revenue &#8211; and there is\u00a0no family loo?<\/li>\n<li>What about small state offices that have only one restroom, where employees have managed for years to go about their business without getting in each other&#8217;s business?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Besides being yet another GOP-run state that seems to believe the concept of &#8220;Small\u00a0Government&#8221; is one that is defined as being small enough to fit in <em>your<\/em> bedroom and <em>my<\/em> vagina, North Carolina is just plain mean. Let&#8217;s be honest: This law targets transgender people for no other reason than the fact that they were born differently from what certain North Carolinian\u00a0legislators (and their out-of-state legislation sponsors)\u00a0believe is normal. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medievalhistories.com\/disability-middle-ages\/\" target=\"_blank\">A couple hundred years ago<\/a>, these same legislators\u00a0likely would have burned <a href=\"http:\/\/www.d.umn.edu\/cla\/faculty\/tbacig\/studproj\/is3099\/pplfrst\/Untitled1.html\" target=\"_blank\">disabled people at the stake for witchcraft<\/a> or tried to exorcise their epilepsy. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/the-fix\/wp\/2015\/06\/25\/a-presidential-candidate-first-jindals-witness-to-an-apparent-exorcism\/\" target=\"_blank\">Oh wait, they still do that.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Many thoughtful corporate leaders and elected officials &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paypal.com\/stories\/us\/paypal-withdraws-plan-for-charlotte-expansion\" target=\"_blank\">shout-out to PayPal <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/gothamist.com\/2016\/03\/29\/new_york_bans_non-essential_city_an.php\" target=\"_blank\">the state of New York<\/a> &#8211;\u00a0are leading economic protests\u00a0to punish North Carolina for its transgender toileting transgressions.\u00a0Money talks, assholes walk.<\/p>\n<p>I believe we private citizens can also let our voices be heard through peaceful protest:<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Modest(y) Proposal:\u00a0The Shit-In<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Eat a hearty meal of broccoli, bananas, sugar free Jelly Bellies (don&#8217;t ask how I know this), prunes, more bananas, bran, rice, pinto beans and oranges. Wash down with a hot tankard of coffee.<\/li>\n<li>Fill up on gas (the kind you put in your car).<\/li>\n<li>Drive to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/North+Carolina+State+Legislative+Bldg,+16+W+Jones+St,+Raleigh,+NC+27601\/@35.7832276,-78.6411414,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x89ac5f6c09da15c9:0xe1e25a6e82b73050\" target=\"_blank\">North Carolina Legislative Building<\/a> from Virginia (~90 miles via South Hill), South Carolina (~120 miles via Cheraw) or Georgia (You&#8217;re gonna need a hybrid vehicle and extra cans of gas ~340 miles via Lavonia &#8211; and you may want to stop for your pre-game meal in South Carolina) but not do not drive from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/entry\/tennessee-transgender-bathroom-bill_us_5705b337e4b0a506064e30e4\" target=\"_blank\">Tennessee: They are considering a similar bill.<\/a>\u00a0Remember, you\u00a0do not want to leave any economic residue\u00a0in North Carolina, only organic material.<\/li>\n<li>Go to your non-biologically assigned toilet. Enter a stall. Do that thing that you doo-doo so well. Wipe. FLUSH. (Remember, we are punishing the legislature, not the innocent janitors who probably don&#8217;t earn a living wage &#8211; keep it tidy)<\/li>\n<li>Wash your hands.<\/li>\n<li>Snap a selfie outside the non-biologically assigned bathroom. Post to the social media account of your choosing. #shitin #modestyproposal #giveashit<\/li>\n<li>Drive back to your state of origin.<\/li>\n<li>Feel happy (and 10 pounds lighter) because you have taken a nonviolent stand, or in this case, sit, against hate, intolerance and intrusive legislators inflicting their own small-minded personal beliefs on science.
